Day 1 Kathmandu - Lhasa
Flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa. Upon arrival into Lhasa you will be met and transferred to your hotel . The afternoon is at leisure to acclimatise to the altitude. Overnight in Lhasa
Day 2 Lhasa
Full day tour of Lhasa including sights such as Sera Monastery; the second biggest Gelupa Monastery , which was built in 1419. Jokhang Temple; one of the oldest temples in Tibet built in the 7th Century by the 33rd king Sontsanganbu. Also visit Barkhor Street, the middle pilgrimage circuit around Jokhang Temple. Overnight in Lhasa
Day 3 Lhasa
Today’s sightseeing takes in Potala Palace, the winter palace of the Dalai Lama, which was originally built in the 7th Century, and rebuilt to it’s present size in the 17th Century. Norbulingka, the Jewel Park, was the Dalai Lama’s summer palace. It covers 100 acres with palaces, pavilions and a zoo. Also visit Drepung Monastery, built in 1416, is the biggest Gelupa Monastery in Lhasa. Overnight in Lhasa
Day 4 Lhasa – Gyantse
Transfer by road via the Kamba La Pass (4800mtrs) to Gyantse. Enroute visit the beautiful Yamdrok Tso, and Karo Lass Pass (5010mtrs) where the year round glacier can be seen.. Overnight at Gyantse
Day 5 Gyantse – Shigatse
Morning visit to Phalkor monastery. In the Afternoon transfer by road to Shigatse, the second biggest city in Tibet. Visit the famous Tashillunpo Monastery in Shigatse, seat of the Pachan Lama, who is regarded as the reincarnation of the Buddha of Endless Enlightenment. Overnight in Shigatse
Day 6 Shigatse – Xegar
Transfer by road to Xegar, stopping enroute at Sakya Monastery, built in 1073, it houses more than 28,000 volumes of sermons, ranking the first among temples across the country. Overnight in Xegar
Day 7 Xegar – Zhangmu
Transfer by road to Zhangmu. Zhangmu is the customs town on the border of Nepal and Tibet.
Day 8 Zhangmu – Kathmandu
Transfer by road over the border to Kathmandu
NOTE: This tour can be run in reverse ie - overland to Lhasa then fly out.
