Day 1 Arrive Mae Hong Son
Upon arriving at Mae Hong Son airport you will be transferred to the hotel. After checking in you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Later in the afternoon, you will be transferred to the Phasuer Waterfall to witness a site of majestic natural beauty before moving on to visit a Meo hill tribe village at Na Pa Pag and a Chinese village at Ban Mae Or, both of which are located 1200 metres above sea level. After this fascinating brush with local culture (and an enjoyable serving of home made Chinese tea in Ban Mae Or), you will be transferred to the Fern Resort (or similar). (L)
Day 2 Mae Hong Son to Pai and back to Mae Hong Son by vehicle
The day begins with breakfast and a trip to a local morning market in search of the best bargains, followed by a drive to the Pai District on a scenic road that offers breathtaking views. After a quick lunch at a local restaurant, you will get to explore the Lod Caves, the Lisu and Lahu hill tribe villages and the famous Fish Cave national park. Although there's no cave for visitors to enter, you will be able to observe big brook carp (some as large as one metre long) swimming in a small stream that emerges from the rock face of a hill. After this enjoyable afternoon, you will be transferred back to the Fern Resort (or similar). (BL)
Day 3 Doi Tung to Mai Sai to Golden Triangle and return to Mae Hong Son
Once again, the day starts with breakfast, but this time it is followed by a boat trip along the Pair River to see the exotic ‘Long Neck Karen Tribe.' As their name indicates, the women of this local village have necks that have been elongated by brass rings. A delightful picnic lunch is provided in the area before you set out to explore several famous temples including Wat Phra Dhat Doi Kong Moo and Wat Jon Kham before setting off for Mae Hong Son and the conclusion of the trip.
